Friar Guide

Realm: Albion

Starting Class: Acolyte

Guild: Defenders Of Albion

Recommended Starting Options:  Only Briton's can become Friars

Friars are one of two primary healing classes of Albion, the other being the cleric. The difference with the friar is that they are more physical in combat than clerics. Friars can dish out a lot of damage, but don't have the same protection as clerics, they only get leather armour and no shield ability. Friars also are not as good at healing than clerics. But they are very strong in melee combat, with good evading skills, to dodge enemy attacks, and parry ability at level 10 to block with your weapon.

            Abilities At Level 5                                Specializations

Friars get a unique item in the form of your robes, which look like cloth armour, but in fact have leather armour stats, you get one off your trainer when you become a friar.

 Get This From Trainer

Friars have no ranged form of attack, and so this is a disadvantage if you are soloing, because you will need to go up close to groups of mob's if you are pulling, and of course there will be the disadvantage in pvp. But this is made up for in the variety and strength of your special moves, and general combat strength. You are similar to the mercenary in the way that you can deal good damage in a short period of time, but cannot tank for very long, due to your protection.

Staff Special move                                         Level 5 Moves

Friars will never be as good as a pure melee like an armsman, and they are not as good at healing as clerics, so they are really a balance between the two. They don't get the same kind of direct damage like cleric, but in a melee fight the friar would win easily. Finding a group with the friar class should not be much of a problem, they can heal and buff just like cleric. They can resurrect and do group heals which are essential for a group hunt. Friars are good at soloing, just like most classes, but make sure you don't get swarmed, or you will meet the bind stone pretty quickly with no shield or chain mail to protect you.

      Magic Spells At Level 5

Paths:

Regardless of the paths you choose, there are some spells which all acolytes get:

Rejuvenation Spells (Acolyte Base Spells)

- Recuperating heal spells which heal for a small amount

- Revive spell which resurrects the player

- Angelic heal spells which do group heal

- Regeneration spells which heal for medium amounts

             Heal Spell

Base Enhancement Spells

- Strength Buff spells

- Aura's of defence which buff your armour factor

- Blessed agility spells which buff your dexterity

- Health blessing spells which buff constitution

Rejuvenation Spells (Rejuvenation Specialized)

- Large heals

- Resurrect With Low HP

Enhancement Spells (Enhancement Specialized)

- Faith shields which buff your armour factor

- Saintly energies which regenerate your stamina

- Speeds Of The Archangel which buffs your attack speed

Friars will make a good addition to your group in both monsters & pvp, good damage, combined with good buffs make this an all round class, the only weaknesses being lack of ranged attack and lack of being the best tank. This class is great to be the 2nd person to attack a monster, due to their great damage output. Or if you choose, you can just sit back and heal and keep buffs going. Enjoy :).

It must be said friars have some of the best looking special moves in the game :)
